Look out for her…

Andreya Triana’s been a guest vocalist on some Flying Lotus (Tea Leaf Dancers) and Bonobo (The Keeper, Eyesdown) tracks of late. She has a very smooth, soulful voice which really compliments each of these producers’ styles. It seems she’ll be on a lot of tracks on Bonobo’s new album, which is much better than that other stupid singer, Bajka, who at the time, was all hyped up on many producers’ tracks. I just couldn’t get into her worldy crooning and I thought she ruined some perfectly fine Simon Green tracks. Anyway, forget about Bajka and focus on Andreya. She’s now signed to Ninja Tune Records and will be dropping a full-length in August. Keep your eyes and your minds open for her as she will be taking us into space and beyond in this year of our lord, 2010.

Uncle Kenghis was right, these guys aren’t the most appealing looking mofo’s. I thought the Indian-looking, kinda cute girl on the synths was the singer and the guitarist/singer girl was a MAN. Gotta give her props for her perfect voice and the ability to play those guitar parts AND sing at the same time.

Despite their aesthetic handicaps, this band has captured my heart. Their gloomy and clean demeanor, drenched in reverb and beat with two MPC500’s falls perfectly in line with the Re-Percussions taste.  ”Islands” is probably their best song and it got me through a tough time. Fuck all the remixes, the original is the best. It’s almost perfect except for some of the noodling at the end.

There’s a Nosaj Thing remix of this track out there. The video’s like if PT Anderson movies were actually good.

I’ve really been enjoying this track from Swedish band and Re-Percussions favorite, Little Dragon. I think the video may have influenced this affinity. Gotta appreciate the Japanese-Swedish singer, Yukimi, bobbing  around inside a kaleidoscope.

2010’s looking good so far, especially with all the new albums scheduled for release. Gorillaz’s new album, Plastic Beach, will feature Little Dragon on a track called “To Binge”. Curious to hear what went on in the preceedings and who the main producer for the album is. DanTheAutomator -> Dangermouse -> ?

What’s up with Sweden pumping out all this great music? Little Dragon, The Knife/Fever Ray, Jj, Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar, Jose Gonzalez, 7 Samurai. Something must be going on in Scandinavia that I don’t know about. Something amazing…
